Forced First Kisses Demotivational

Description

Demotivatonal Poster with three similar scenes from three different anime - Dark Mousey forcing a first kiss on Riku Harada in "DNAngel", Leonard Testarossa forcing a first kiss onto Kaname Chidori in "Full Metal Panic", and Dio Brando forcing a first kiss on Erina in "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure".

This is how each girl got their first kiss and this is NOT a good thing. It's not sexy, it's not funny, it's not pleasant at all. Why? Because none of these girls gave their consent. They did not give their hearts to these men, they did not choose to have these men be their first kiss (which they might have been wanting to save for someone else), they showed no signs that they desired for these men to kiss them or that they'd enjoy it if they did, and they were left feeling harassed, violated, and disrespected after having been kissed by these men. And in just the act of forcing kisses on the girls' lips, these men show that they have no mind for the girls' feelings, no respect for their agency and wishes, and no conception of the notion that these girls' desires and the right to act upon them when they choose to should be placed above their own desires and their want to act upon them now. This treats the girls as little more than things to give these guys pleasure, which is certainly how they view them. This is sexual abuse and harassment, period.

Leonard and Dio are at least vilified within the narrative for this action, but the way the anime adaptation of "DNAngel" handled Dark kissing Riku bothers me. The original manga was written by a woman and she chose to depict this moment as the terrible experience for Riku that it ought to be depicted as - she was left shaken and devastated that this guy stole her first kiss from her, and from then on rightfully considered Dark to be a sexist creep until Dark finally realized that treating women like beautiful artworks rather than people and doing that kind of stuff to them was wrong, and changed his ways for the better, never harassing Riku or any other girl ever again. But in the anime? Dark kissing Riku was framed as romantic and sexy, Riku's anger and revulsion of Dark afterwards depicted as comical misunderstanding, and by the end of the show, Dark never learned what he did was wrong and didn't have to change one damn thing about himself, his views, and his treatment of women. Seriously, anime writers? SERIOUSLY?

(Dishonorable mention to Yato's douchebag father forcibly kissing Hiyori in "Noragami" - he well deserved the beating he got from her later.  And if you're wondering about Serena forcing a kiss on Ash in the end of the XYZ series of "Pokemon", I don't consider that one so bad because it was quick and possibly not even on the lips - on the face for sure, but not the lips. And as long as it was for thanks, complete with a "thank you", Ash would and clearly did appreciate it. I can definitely see the problematic aspects of it on Serena's end, but it wasn't quite on this level to qualify as harassment or sexual abuse.)

EDIT: How I forgot about Kisshu forcing a kiss on Ichigo and stealing her first kiss in "Tokyo Mew Mew" is beyond me but yeah, same thing applies. Fuck that douche.

I'm not going to lie, if not for the Kono Dio Da! meme, I probably wouldn't be so into Jojo like I am now
